"Let no-one be a stranger within these walls"
The parish church of Largo is a beacon of hope set upon the ancient foundations of Christian Worship in Largo. The church serves all who live in the parish and reaches out to the wider community with the love of Jesus Christ.

Dear Friends,

Let me start by introducing myself.  At the end of last year I was appointed to serve as the Interim Moderator for Largo Parish Church.  I am the Rev Allan McCafferty the parish minister of St Andrews: Hope Park and Martyrs with Strathkinness.  I will accompany Largo Parish Church on this next step of their journey as they seek to find a new minister to come and serve amongst you.

So far I have been impressed by how much has been going on in Largo Parish Church.  Two congregations have united into one and people are working well together getting to know each other and moving forward energetically.  Important decisions have been taken: to sell Largo St David’s Church, to make improvements to the Durham Hall, to sell the former manse and to purchase a brand new one in Castaway Lane.   All these actions are clear hopeful signs of life and continuing service to the community.

New life of course is the predominant theme of the Easter season.  After the crucifixion and those difficult days when death was so real, raw and painful came the arrival at the empty tomb, the stone rolled away, the discovery that Jesus Christ had risen.  The darkness quickly vanished and new hope for the future and new life begun were apparent.  Looking forward, with the recent election of a Nominating Committee, I pray that soon the right person is found who responds to a call to minister in Largo so that the energy, happiness and fresh life that springs from a new ministry will begin for you.

Happy Easter to you and those you love!

The Union of  our  two Churches

PictureService of Celebration
The Union of Largo and Newburn and Largo St David’s as approved by the General Trustees of the Church of Scotland, confirmed by St Andrews Presbytery and came into effect as of 15 November.

The Kirk Session agreed at its meeting in October that the pattern of worship would be to move to one service on a Sunday morning at 10.30 a.m in Largo Parish Church (from January).  In recognition of the need to maintain a place of worship in the Durham Hall it has been agreed to worship there on the last Sunday of each month – for an initial period of 6 months on a trial basis.  It is likely that the service in the Durham Hall will be a more modern style of worship and this is currently being explored.   The first service to be held in the Durham Hall will take place on the 25th of February.
