Largo and Lundin Links Messy Church |
Visitors from afar!John Ellis and family find ancestor's grave in Largo Parish Church grounds whilst visiting from their current homes in Australia.
John's great, great grandfather was the Rev Thomas Sommerville and he was minister at Largo St David's between 1851 and 1857 (sadly died of a heart attack on 1 September 1857). In the tribute following his death he was described as a 'genial friend, an energetic scriptural preacher and a wonderful pastor who laboured zealously for the spiritual interests of the congregation and the religious instruction of the young'. Who are we?Largo Parish Church came into being on 15 November 2017, a result of a union between the linked charges of Largo and Newburn and Largo St David’s churches.
The Kirk Session of the congregation operates under the Unitary Constitution and is committed to working together to reach out to our community as effectively as possible. |
Where are we going? We envisage developing a community hub at the Durham Hall, Lower Largo in the centre of the parish. Through this facility we hope to increase our contacts with the community, making use of social media for information.
It is our vision to engage more with our local community which includes opportunities such as informal services where people can ask questions and explore their faith and doubts. |
